Point Clouds are a hot topic at Be Together Conference

Philadelphia, PA | May 25, 2011 - It is day 2 at the Be Together Conference in Philadelphia, PA. Be Together is Bentley Systems's annual conference that highlights and promotes their new technologies designed to sustain today's infrastructure. One of those technologies, point clouds, has generated a lot of buzz this week.

Greg Bentley, CEO of Bentley, and Bhupinder Singh, Senior VP, have announced at their keynote addresses the ability to stream point clouds via ProjectWise.
Distribution of large point cloud files presents a bandwidth issue that cannot be easily resolved. Bentley's project team collaboration software ProjectWise will enable users to stream point clouds over the network very quickly by using a tiling technique similar to Google Earth. This work has been done in collaboration with Pointools, the UK-based company whose Vortex point cloud engine is the driving force behind all point cloud technology within Bentley software. Pointools has played an integral role in Bentley's ability to integrate point clouds into their MicroStation platform.
